Both Mária Petrás and her daughter, Alina are special characters of the Hungarian field of art, as in their art craftsmanship and the respect for our traditions are combined with their unique tone reflecting the contemporary world. The relationship with God has a central role in their art. They realised that even a creative person is not only merely an individual, but also a successor of the inheritance of many previous generations, the responsible representative of our ancestors’ sacral inheritance in today. They both know that stubborn moral attitude and empathy-filled artistic sensibility cannot be preserved in esoteric or cliché-like commonplaces. Their works are penetrated by the vital force overwhelming their Moldavian Hungarian roots and unique vision. In the present day art-industry fetishizing competition and artistic liberty, we warmly recommend this exhibition, titled Born from Clay, Woven into Light to those, who are rather interested in our places in the world, our relationship with God, and how we could reorganise our transcendental connections and maintain them in unfavourable wind.
