The works on display in the exhibition entitled Space, Time, Experience can be interpreted as the “inner landscapes” of painters Győző Bihon and Andrea Gulyás. Two separate worlds, two independent universes – yet a shared experience. An exhibition in which we not only observe, but also participate.

Győző Bihon’s paintings reveal a wide variety of landscapes through his trademark bird’s-eye view depictions. The layers of these images, which resemble both maps and reliefs, are built upon each other, just like the cities that inspired them—such as Rome, Assisi, and Szentendre—while his most recent works were created under the influence of Hungary’s wine regions. The contemporary artist’s works can be linked to traditional painting, digital vision, and spatial thinking.

Andrea Gulyás’s “geometric impressionism” is both disciplined and lyrical, with the past and the future meeting in the present moment in her works. The series of paintings entitled Tribute to Monet is, on the one hand, a reference to the masterpieces of the father of impressionism and, on the other, its worthy contemporary spiritual heir. In her other masterpieces, she uses visuality as a tool, but goes beyond its boundaries to enter the world of music with her metaphorical depiction of musical instruments and her characteristic, airy yet taut style.

The art of Győző Bihon and Andrea Gulyás does not describe, but becomes an experience: an exciting inner journey in which space, time, and experience converge.
