Henrietta Szabó’s twisted collages (exciting, new technique) are situated on the borderline between painting and applied art (textiles). Yet they can be seen more as paintings than textiles, their compositions, content and formal solutions are closer to painting.  Henrietta Szabó has created a repetitive and minimalist formal world in which nature and landscape play an important role, but not in their concreteness, rather in their abstract, spiritual, -one might say: sacral sense. Her works in their enclosure and tone of colour, evoke both the monumentality of the landscape details of Byzantine mosaics and the texture of twentieth-century abstraction. There is also a “minimal frothing” gesture at the same time, which makes the works even more vivid.
