exhibition of Bertalan Nagy FABERCI visual artist

Humans, Idols, Christs

2024. 07. 04. – 2024. 08. 30.

BERTALAN NAGY, known as FABERCI, is a man blessed with a talent inherited from his parents, a passion for art and a loving personality. In this solo exhibition, he presents his recent wood sculptures, inspired by his father’s formal legacy, traditional architecture and the formal construction of traditional sculptural techniques. The language of his works is straightforward. He draws on the possibilities of simple forms that say the same thing to everyone, but seeks the ‘inner life’ in the forms.

For now he works only with wood. He is familiar with the restrained beauty of objects on the border between natural and artificial, life and death, space and plane. He knows that wood can stabilize time, movement. The roots of spirit and soul meet here.

In terms of spirituality, in terms of content, FABERCI’s work is divided into two poles: the profanity of human nature and the transcendent sacrality that ‘overrides’ our world.

FABERCI represents the organic branch of domestic sculpture. He is well versed in the natural history of trees – you can feel the embossed and deepened sentences. It is in dialogue with the tree that his sometimes mystical realist, sometimes minimalist, sometimes abstract, yet archaic formalism is born.  In his creations, the original colours and veins of the different wood species give a warm, naturalistic final result. The creative gesture of the human hand becomes palpable in his work.
